Detroit Lions star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson was carted off the field after an apparent injury during the third quarter of Sunday's (October 13) game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Hutchinson was seen on the ground after recording a sack on second down with 11:57 remaining in the third quarter. The Lions confirmed that Hutchinson suffered a lower leg injury and would be ruled out for the remainder of the game.

"#Lions Injury Update: DL Aidan Hutchinson, Lower Leg, Out," the Lions' public relations X account confirmed.

Hutchinson recorded three tackles, including the sack on his final play, prior to exiting Sunday's game. The Michigan native recorded 16 tackles and 6.5 sacks through the first five games of the 2024 NFL season.

Hutchinson has been one of the biggest factors in the Lions' turnaround since being selected by the franchise at No. 2 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. The former University of Michigan standout was selected as a Pro Bowler during his rookie season and recorded a career-best 11.5 sacks and 14 tackles for loss in 2023 as the franchise earned its first division title, NFC Championship Game appearance and playoff victory since 1991.

The Lions led the Cowboys, 34-6, at the time of Hutchinson's injury and entered Sunday's game on a two-game winning streak, having won three of their first four games.
