Earth Warming Slower Than Expected

A new study suggests global warming may be occurring more slowly than previously thought.  The study published this week in the journal "Nature Geoscience" explains that the Earth has warmed slower than expected, meaning that the planet has a slightly better chance of meeting the most ambitious goals set out in the Paris climate accord, including limiting global warming to 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit.

But the findings don't downplay the threat of climate change, maintaining that major reductions in carbon emissions is required to achieve those climate goals.
